For depression to lose its stigma, people need to recognize that its an illness,. parents dont always recognize the symptoms of teen depression and anxiety in their son or daughter. Sometimes, teenagers themselves dont understand what is happening to them. This is brynns story of her experience with teen depression and anxiety. I have suffered from depression and anxiety since i was a teenager. I kept my feelings of deep sadness, loneliness and the feeling of being worthless to myself for many years. I coped with these feelings by cutting my arms and by keeping a diary of my thoughts. Depression in children and teens is on the rise, a heartbreaking trend that cuts across all demographicsrich and poor, rural and urban. I only get depressed every other week when my moody ways start to kick in. Though these specific individuals can only share their own journeys, each story is part of a larger narrative that illuminates what the entire worlds of depression and treatment can look like. story 3 of this blog series will be posted in a few short weeks!
